Color Picker

Privacy Policy

Effective DateFebruary 12, 2026

When you use the colorspicker.net website, our applications, extensions, or the “Trending Colors” service, you entrust us with the handling of certain information. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the measures we take to protect it.

When this policy applies

This policy applies to the Color Picker websites, our browser extension, and related services (including the “Trending Colors” page). It does not apply to third‑party websites and services whose links may appear in our products.

What data we collect

We aim to collect the minimum amount of information necessary to operate the service and analyze color trends.

  • Color selections: We record which color shades users choose using our color tool. We do not track where the selected codes are later used; only the color itself is recorded.
  • Colors on visited sites: Our extension may temporarily obtain the address (URL) of the current page in order to read the CSS colors on that site and determine which shades are used. This allows us to automatically “read” colors from real websites and palettes. We analyze the URL solely to prevent duplicate counts of the same site - many users revisit the same pages - so our aggregated statistics accurately reflect unique sites.
  • Palettes and images: If a user analyzes palette images, we extract the colors from those images to understand which shades are popular.
  • Technical information: We may collect non‑personal information about the device and browser (type, version, interface language, etc.) to ensure the extension works properly. This data does not include personal identifying details.

We do not collect your contact information, track your internet activities, or use any biometric or sensitive data.

How we use the collected information

We use the data we collect to:

  • Generate the trending colors list: Analyze aggregated, anonymized information about which shades designers choose, which CSS colors appear on real websites, and how the popularity of colors changes over time. This allows us to create up‑to‑date trending color lists that reflect real user preferences rather than subjective forecasts.
  • Improve the service: We study de‑identified and aggregated data about user behavior and color trends to improve our algorithms and features.
  • Dynamic determination of processing rules. We temporarily use the page address to obtain CSS colors and ensure that we do not count the same website multiple times. Based on aggregated, anonymized data about color choices and frequency of use of shades on websites, we automatically adjust algorithms and keep the “Trending Colors” section up to date.

Data sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. We may share only aggregated, anonymized data in the following situations:

  • Analytics: We may share aggregated, anonymized information with analytics partners to study trends and improve the service. These partners may analyze the data, draw conclusions about popular shades, further anonymize the information by removing unique identifiers, or create and distribute analytical reports based on anonymized data.
  • Legal requirements and safety: We may disclose information to satisfy legal obligations or to protect the rights, property, and safety of users. We may also provide anonymized data to authorized bodies in accordance with law and industry practice.
  • Business operations. If Color Picker participates in a merger, acquisition, or other corporate reorganization, aggregated data may be transferred to the new owner; in that case, existing privacy commitments will be maintained.

Data security

We employ reasonable and reliable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Nevertheless, no method of transmitting or storing data can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You may:

  • Request to view, update, or delete the information we hold by contacting us.
  • Opt out of statistical data collection (within the limits compatible with the extension’s functionality) through your browser settings.

Cookies and local storage

Our site and extension may use cookies or similar technologies to remember your preferences and ensure proper functionality. You can manage cookie settings via your browser; disabling certain cookies may limit functionality.

Policy updates

We may update this policy from time to time. The date of the last update is indicated at the beginning of the document. If changes are significant, we will post a prominent notice on our site or in the extension.
